HCEC paramedic Sue Poparad spoke to dozens of students at MacArthur 9th Grade Center’s annual Career Day on November 20, 2015.   Theevent was designed to create a link between the classroom and the workplace, by allowing students to explore various career options so that they can make informed educational and career choices.

Sue exposed students to different careers within the EMS industry.  She explained the type of education required, the importance of schoolwork and how English, math, problem solving, teamwork, and other skills learned in the classroom are used on the job.

Students asked about the types of emergencies medics respond to and wanted to know the worst thing she has ever seen. They also got an opportunity to see the inside of an ambulance and look at all the equipment used in emergency medical situations.
